For a few days now my Windows XP has turned to crap. I cant even go into my documents without the PC laggin up so bad I have to crash explorer.exe and re run it. I defraged the hard drive, ran nod32 antivirus deep analysis, ran ad aware. Nothing. Im not a nub at pc's so this is my last resort. My hard drive isnt even half full and I havent done anything out of the usual. All my programs take ages to load and if something pops up on top of it before they do, they crash. When im not doing anything except using limewire, which I even use when I play online, my explorer.exe takes up from 70-99% of the processor. I need serious help, anyone have any ideas? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

512 ram
1.8 ghz
40gb hd
32 mb video

Its a laptop, Windows XP came on it. I play Doom 3, Counter Strike Source, Americas Army fine. I even host from time to time no problem, this just happened all of a sudden. I noticed its like something is giving my explorer.exe all the priority, but, when I set it, its already on normal, tried setting it to low, no change. Right now, i got WMP to play an mp3. When does WMP take up 31% of your CPU ? this is bothering me and getting me very pissed off.

I would suggest you post a HJT log in the security forum. Run it with NO browsers open, save the log, post it.

if your'e looking for a harmless online analysis, you can go to spysweepers site, (a well known, high detection rate, mainstream product), at webroot.com and use the spy audit free spyware scan. Otherwise (and to ultimately fix the possible problem), download hijackthis, save the program to a folder on your hd, close out all programs and browsers, open hjt and do a scan only, save a log, and post it. Well analyse it and go from there. :)

Just curois what kind of ram is it? SD or DDR? i dont think it would really make that much of a difference in your situation, because it shouldn;t be doing that in the first place.
