when i play game that uses the 3d ability of my video card
(ati radeon 9700 pro)
for about 3-5 minutes it stucks my system suddenly and the monitor stop recieving signals, so it turns off by itself as well ...
when it happends i cant do anything but to turn my
computer off and on (using the power button for few secs),
it ocures only when i play games that requires 3d:
when i'm working with the computer using
windows/office and so on .. it doesnt get stuck, i repeat - only when i'm playing games with 3d features the whole system crashes& not responding to any input,
I belive it's the video card (no need to explain why)
but anyway,
you're all welcome to advice me, to offer me solutions .. if you know this problem or had almoust the same problem , let me know what you did,
so it might help,
Thank you

What's the tempurature of your GPU and RAM? It is possibily, as Yue said, a case of overheating. Also, what are the specs of your computer?

Gpu/ram ?

how can i check the temperature of the Gpu/Ram?

i got asus motherboard with asus proble(motherboard diagnosic) installed
but i cant check ram/gpu temperature..

my specs:

mb: Asus P4S800 - MX (mini)
video card: Ati Radeon 9700 pro
Ram: Samsung 512/400 mhz
h.d: W.D 7200 40 gb

my motherboard has onboard video-card & agp slot, so i can try
check the onboard card and see what happends...

my bad, I'm pretty sure ATI doesnt tell you your GPU temperature. I also forgot to ask you for your M/B temp and CPU temp. Maybe you have overclocked your cpu?

Solved!

guess what@@
it was the fan that caused all the problems..
i took the video-card out and it was full of dust , and the fan was stuck .. i had to use great powers to turn it by myself so i'm sure the electricity couldnt turn it,
i put cpu fan instead since it fits .. it has small space now between the fan the the gpu , i'm not sure it's good idea to use cpu fan on gpu .. is it?
thanks for all the repliers - you helped a lot i appreciate it! :)

so now there isn't a fan on the cpu? If it's so, then its bad. If it's the space between the fan and the heatsink then it should be a problem, but if it's the heatsink and the gpu, then its a problem.

Can't you use a duster and blow the dust out of the gpu fans?
