Come home tonight to find for the third time in 2 years I have blown a power supply on my HTPC! I was using this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001G0WPLK/ref=oss_product which just bit the big one (im assuming at least by the lack of absolutely anything when i press the power button) So where do i go from here? Im going to dissect my office computer to double check that it is indeed the psu but what should i get to prevent this from happening again? Im also going to be checking the warranty information on this one to see if i have any chance of getting a refund or an exchange.

get a better psu :P

but seriously, if are having problems with psus, maybe try getting one that is a little more expensive (but not necessarily a higher watt one).

but before you throw it away, at least check it maybe on another computer or take everything out except for the essentials and try it. it could possibly be something else like the motherboard.

Im all for spending more at this point, what do you recommend? I cant believe I need anything higher than a 500watt (powering: MoBo, Dvd Burner, Audigy 2 front panel, front case lights and lcd and 4 fans.) I ran out of molex connectors on the old one, if i could get one with two more molex connectors it would be perfect!

500w is more than enough to power a HTPC, Cooler Master arent the best but there definitely not the worst. dosent matter what PSU you have any of them can blow, top of the line or not.

The eXtreme Power Plus has generally been regarded as a pretty poor quality unit, there is only a small number of cooler master units that i would even consider purchasing tbh.

I'd go with one of these:
