Server CPU's are optimized for greater workload that are put in servers. A typical consumer would not utilize even 10% of a server CPU.

Depends on the model of the "server" processors. Some of them are just rebranded desktop ones with ECC memory enabled.

Power consumption? Cost? This seems pretty obvious if you've even glanced at prices for server hardware versus consumer. What on earth is Grandma gonna need 16 cores for to check Facebook and play Bejeweled?

Why do people not buy server cpus instead of traditional desktop cpus? The server ones r often faster
Honestly the main reason is because the motherboard you need are designed for servers and workstations, not for gamers. They don't have 2/3/4 way Crossfire or SLI, they don't support overclocking, they don't support features like high end sound cards, built-in WiFi, software tools for monitoring and tweaking, most require ECC memory, and most especially the processors, motherboard, and RAM are significantly more expensive.

Depends on the specific model comparison.

If you wanted a 20+ core xeon it's thousands of dollars.

They all do similar things, a server cpu isn't automatically faster or better than a consumer one, it all depends on the specific models
