I was thinking of getting a server but they are too expensive , so then i bought a cd of windws server 2003 and ran it on vmware it was good but slowed my computer down too much . then I thought that i could run it on my desktop which is fast but too noisey to be on all the time so i decided that was a no. Now I have this idea of running it on my other laptop (dell latitude d410) but im not sure if it will run it because it is a very slow pc and with the cd key already been used once it might not work again . So im nt sure run it in dual boot with xp or leave servering for another time>

Server 2003 had pretty tame requirements, you should have no problems running it on any machine from the last few years. Probably want to stay away from a laptop though unless it has a lot of memory since the point is to use to store lots of files.

cheers i try dual booting if i am happy ill unistall windows xp

by the way do you know how to disable the buzzer thing that makes a very loud beep if you do something like exit a app that's busy
