would configuring a VLAN on a switch count as a DMZ or would it only be from the router?

i posted this in networking but no response thought i should give it a bash here :good:

Thats a good question - I don't have the answer, which I should as I am doing my CCNA. I'll bring this question to my tutor and come back to you.

No, DMZ is meant for one computer not a VLAN. A VLAN is a set of ip ranges that you can configure whatever you like for them, typically they are also called network segments.

DMZ is meant for boxes you want to sit outside of NAT and not behind your router. I don't recommend it either unless it is like an xobx 360 or some other proprietary machine that won't get hacked.

This would be best answered in the networking section. Your post there is only a day old. Patience my friend. Patience. :)

Edit: Nevermind, you beat me to it Tlarkin.
