Setting up a server at home?

im trying to run all my comps off of a server, from my cable/dsl connection...can this be done..i have some experience in networking, so i kinda know what to do, i just wanna know if this can be acheived.............

you could just use a router for that, no need to use a dedicated server

the type of server you're talking about, tho, is called a proxy

and there's no special hardware required. Any desktop pc can be used as a proxy.

If for instance i wantedto run norton ghost in order to re-imgae my comps...i guess i would only need some NAS right...so your telling me itll be cheaper to go the router way.

Inthat regard, is there a wirelss print server, that can actually stand alone with the printer, without a cord?...preferbly linksys...please post pic

i'm not going to find you a picture

but if your computers are all on the same router, you can set up a print server on any of the computers

for instance, on my desktop, i have a samsung laser printer, and any of my laptops can print off of it

all my computers share an internet connection through my wcg200, which is a cable modem, 4-port wired LAN and wireless LAN all in one box, about the size of a typical cable modem, and only cost me $69 at compusa.
