setting up new SSD

I bought a new SSD and HDD because I believed my old hard drive was starting to go out. I used a cloning software that cloned everything from my C drive (desktop and system 32) to my SSD and other files to my new hard drive.
I figured it would be easy to just switch over after going through my BIOS to change my boot priorities. I changed the boot priorities and now when I boot it says I need a disk or a drive that has the proper items to boot the pc. I then started it up again and now it says I have to have a proper raid, i am now at the raid page where it says my hdd and ssd are both a "non-raid disk" I am lost on the next step of how much raid volume I should give or how I should get the ssd to load the OS?
This is what I get when I try to boot from the SSD through the bios

How did you clone the drive? Personally I would use this as an opportunity to reinstall Windows.

It was a program AOMEI Backupper. I would do a clean install the only problem is I do not have the disk to do the install and in order for me to download it it would take multiple days as my download speed is not the greatest.

When you clone a drive, you need to clone more than just the system32 and desktop. You need to clone the whole drive. Yes, you need to do a fresh install of windows. What operating system do you have?

everything from my C drive (desktop and system 32)
As stated, that is not everything. Usually you'd want to make a 1:1 mirror copy of ALL data.

I'd go back and try cloning it again.

When I cloned it I did everything that was on the C drive the drive was partitioned through two drives C and D. C had the OS (assumed) so I had cloned the entire drive to my SSD.
I am using windows 8.1 but I have now ran into the issue when I try to boot it.
So I start the pc up normally and put it into bios.

When I click on the HDD and boot it I get the same original screen I started with....reboot and select proper boot device.

I went to best buy and they said the manufactorer would be able to send me a copy of windows for $20 or roughly. Does that seem correct? If so how would I prove to them that I even have Windows 8 if I cannot even get my computer to turn on to get activation codes and such?
I believe I am just going to do a fresh restart on it then plug my old hard drive in and transfer the items from there, it may be the best thing I could do right now.
Any opinions on the best way I could get a Windows 8 disk the quickest way possible? Without having to spend the 240$ to get the actual product.

So this is a custom built pc and not a store bought system? What did you use to install windows in the first place? If it is store bought, what is the make and model of computer?

Its store bought, I bought it from best buy a year and half ago.
Asus-Desktop - 32GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive-CM6870-US014S

There should be a recovery program that you can run that will create recovery cd's. If not, contact Asus for recovery dvd's.

How would I go upon actually getting my pc to start? haha.... That's where I am stuck at now, if I could get the PC to start and run I would find a way to get the recovery DVD's but since I cannot turn it on is there a way?
When I turn on the PC and get to the bios and run it off my old hard drive it is still telling me I need a proper way of booting up the pc?

Yes original that came with the computer. I go to the bios and change it to boot from that, yet it still says i need a proper way of booting.

If you installed Windows with two drives chances are the bootmgr files landed on the second HDD thus a clone of the first drive won't boot.

In AOMEI Backupper make sure you select disk clone.

Ill have to try that one! I tried putting a factory image from my laptop of windows 8 onto a microSD but sadly did not work. Still trying to figure out a way to get it to work, I may have to get a USB that I can do a factory image on and install windows that way.

The recovery didnt work as the computer didnt support it. Where would I go about calling microsoft so I can get a copy of windows 8 so I can get the computer up and running again.

Can you not just download a copy of the same windows version you have and use your own product key ?

You can get perfectly legal downloads of windows without using torrents etc, they are meant for situations just like yours.

From the searching I've done on this it seems you can't do this with OEM machines as the key won't activate. I may be wrong but a couple sites have said this.
