setting up new SSD

I may try calling microsoft and Asus tomorrow to see what I can do. If anything worse comes to worse, I may just downgrade to windows 7, or vista depending on the price of them. At walmart I can get 8.1 for 110$ I believe it was.
 
Why spend extra money when you don't need to. Asus should provide you with the recovery cd's for minimal cost. You already have a license for windows 8 with your machine, why pay for another one?
 
The thing I am worried about is how am I going to prove to Asus that I have bought a computer with legitimate windows 8 on it? Would I need the receipt for my computer, or how would that work haha. Im just bummed that I am now using my laptop that is absolutely shitty haha.
 
No proving necessary. Just contact them with your model number and request recovery cd's.
