couple of questions

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowI...0GT 128MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail

1) for the power cord, which part of the cord connects to the video card? Im assuming its the adapter on the bottom, and one of the adapters in the top connects to the female adapter coming from the power source.

2) also for cooling fans, do all cases accept any size or does each fan only fit a spefic case?

im looking at getting this for a fan:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811999113

it looks nice, and its a 120mm.

3) also my fsb right now runs at 266mhz, i wanna oc' the fsb to 333mhz, i just bought a 1gb stick that runs at 333mhz, and my other gig stick runs at 333mhz. The fsb is only 266mhz, is there anything i need to upgrade to run the ram at 333mhz, or should i be fine as it is w/ a stock cooling system. I know you can use heat speaders and ram sinks, do i need both of them or just one of them when oc'ing ram. I got 2 gigs not sure what brand they are.

4)one last question, when it comes to oc'ing the cpu 200 - 300 or more mhz, what exactly is needed? Im guessing a larger/faster cooling fan for the cpu and a better power supply. I have an athlon xp 2400+, ive seen some people run these at 2.23 mhz and with no stability issues.

my mother board is a compaq, i think the name is ch73, the computer was bought in december of 2002, i know theres an update for the bios that was released in june of 2003, is it worth updating the bios for better system stability or should I just leave the bios as is.

thanks for the help. Im not gonna be doing the oc'ing but i want to buy the necessary upgrades so that when my friend oc's my comp it doesnt take a shit on me.

Also i had no idea where to put this since it asks 4 different questions.

something like this
perif_molex%20style%20power%20connector.jpg

its mostly idiot-proof by now so just plug it in (it only will fit one way)

2) also for cooling fans, do all cases accept any size or does each fan only fit a spefic case?
while same cases may have premade slots/holes/vents for 120mm fans, you can always cut your own so technically speaking any fan can be paired with any case

1. you core clock is 133mhz (DDR266) and your memory clock is 166mhz (DDR333). realistically it not an earthload of an overclock so just overclock away
2. heatspreaders and crap are only really needed if you start dealing with Vdimm voltages in excess of 3.0v (stock is 2.5)

see OC 101.

my mother board is a compaq
You're not gonna be able to overclock that.

not gonna be able to overclock what? The mobo? I know that, i was just stating all the info I know about my system for the record.

also where is the intake fan and exhaust fan located?

why wont i be able to oc anything?

because your motherboard is made by compaq, which is an OEM, they take all the oc'in capabilities out. I dont know why you couldnt overclock your video card though? But i know ram and cpu you cant.

compaq doesn't make the motherboard. however they lock out any options in their bios. basically can't touch anything in the bios.
