Shadowing on lcd screen -help?

I have a 21" Dell lcd. I think it used to show font and images clearly. (my personal computer for email, browsing, etc)

I just noticed yesterday that there is a significant shadowing with the font and images. When I type A, I see a typed A, and also see a shadowed A right next to it.. it's like seeing double blurry vision. Images also show a shadow copy.

Using ClearType doesn't change the shadows.

I set the monitor to 800x600 and the native 1200x800 and the shadowing is the same.

I do have a long video cord for it, 30', however the video image was clear for many months using the same cord.

The monitor is analog. Graphics is integrated Intel Extreme Graphics.

My eyes would be so appreciative of any help or ideas!
thank you..

I'm sure you've gotten this advice before, but try downloading the latest drivers for your video card. the problem may be as simple as that; corrupted drivers. :)

This has happened to every single identical LCD monitor in my school's new computer lab. They bought cheap NEC monitors, and the same thing has happened to each one. Basd on that, I'd say it's a problem with the monitor. Dell usually makes nice monitors... but something may have gone wrong.

I had this very same problem. I switched to an AGP video card and the shadowing stopped pronto.
However... I first advise swapping out the monitor to rule out problems with that. If you get shadowing with the second monitor, then your onboard video adapter is shot. If the shadowing goes away, then suspect the monitor.
