Shady company? Laptopmemory.com

About a week and a half ago, I ordered a gig of RAM for my Toshiba laptop. It cost me like $70 bucks, but I figured it'd be worth it so I can do my work more efficiently.

A few days later, I get a call from a guy in NY saying he received my order, and sure enough, I got his ($15 order that I can't use). So I email laptopmemory.com, put in the necessary info, explained the situation, and no response for a few days. I wrote them again, and still no response. I tried calling them just now, and no one picks up the phone, even though I'm clearly in normal business hours for them.

They might just be at lunch, and maybe it's a small enough company that all (or both) of their employees are away from the office. But this place just reeks of indifference and incompetence. Has anyone else had experiences with them? What's the best thing I can do here? $70 is a good deal of money for me, especially for some laptop RAM, and there's no way I should have to pay extra or go through much hassle to get my order corrected.

Please share your advice, thanks...patience is running low.

Call one more time, if you can leave a message and ask for a responce and tell them you will file a report with the BBB if this is not taken care of swiftly, if they dont respond, go ahead and file a report with the BBB.

Well, I gave them one more call, and after numerous attempts, I got someone on the phone. He had a little bit of an accent, but was very polite (albeit nervous).

He said that he would ship out the correct memory today, refund shipping, and asked that I send back the wrong order I got. I'm going to do that AFTER I make sure I get my order.

But it seems this is resolved...for now. Too bad it had to be so difficult (btw, their so-called "live assistance" doesn't work either...phone seems the best way).

Well, the guy sent the RAM as promised, and it got here really quick. But when I installed it and tried booting up, my laptop beeped a few times, and nothing happened.

I highly doubt I installed it incorrectly, as it seems there's only one place and one direction for it to go in. Is it really possible that after all this hassle, they shipped me some dead RAM?

Yes its very possible. If I were in your shoes I would be trying to get a discount or something for free after all that crap you have been through!
