I have 4 PCs on the same network. One of the PCs has Vista Business as an OS.

I can share files with all the XP PCs Just fine but I cannot with Vista. I can't even ping the IP on the Vista PC even though it's on the same network.

This is a simple home network. Why can't I share files with Vista yet...anybody...?

well if you cant even ping the vista pc then you definitely will not be able to share files...

can you access the internet with your vista pc?

Yes I can get to the internet with the Vista PC just fine. All of my PCs are going through the same router with the default being 192.168.1.1

I have turned file sharing on in the Vista PC and turned off the firewall.

Oh, also, I can ping from my Vista PC to any XP PC on my network but, I can't say the same doing it from XP to Vista.

another little detail i remember when i seting up my vista computer was that when you connect the computer to the network you have to designate if this is a public or a private network. unfortunatly i am not home right now so i cant go in and see where that is. but hopefully you find it yourself. you just have to make it a private network.

check your firewall settings and tune it ... some time it producess hindrence
assign ur network as public or private options are explained .. so chose carefully ... definately u have to use vista pc to act as server..
