im at the end of my wits and trying to figure it out again. ive seen many guidelines for sharing using 1 computer with windows 7 pro. this is the share. on the other hand i have 3 more with xp pro.

in windows 7 control panel i see homegroup and sharing options. but when ya read it, it says sharing with other computers with windows 7. thats it.
all the computers in same workgroup and have computer names. i can access the other computers with xp pro. not none of xp pro can access windows 7.
i need to start over again.
any ideas and or suggestions to try again?
thanks

another note: the only thing i have managed to do is share a printer hooked up to windows 7.
the computers with xp pro will use just fine.

Hi Tremmor!

You may need to tinker with the advanced settings in the Network and Sharing center and turn on Network Discovery, File and Printer Sharing (if it isn't on already), and Public Folder Sharing (if you want that). Also verify that all your computers are set to the same Workgroup.

Ignore Homegroup. That will only benefit you with other Win7 computers.

ok ...i'll check and verify. i will follow up later. the uac i never paid much attention to. i thought i turned off the windows firewall and kaspersky internet security. work group is same. im sharing a printer with 4 computers now. file sharing is something i have not accomplished yet.
i will be back. have some errands.
