Shocking High temps even with Big Typhoon!!

Hi,
When I booted up this morning, my computer froze (AGAIN). It just wouldnt boot up, so i reset the CMOS and flipped the RAM into slots A1 & A2, it was in A1 & B2.

So, i went into the BIOS to put all the settings back, and i looked at the hardware monitor. My CPU was at 67 Degrees!!!!!

So, i booted onto windows, and checked my ASUS pc probe, AI Booster and Speedfan. The all read from 50- 69 Degrees. This looked bad. Then i came here to post this thread. Now the temps arccording to the monitors are 37 - 40 degrees. What was the problem? 37 is quite a high idle for me, i usually idle around 33 Degrees.

The typhoon is a little wobbly, maybe its came loose, causing the temps to increase?

EDIT: On speedfan, I have Temp 1, Temp 2, Temp 3, HD0, then temp 1 again. Thing is, temp 3 is at 127 Degrees! I know for a fact that nothing inside my computer is 127 Degrees, what is temp 3 usually tied to?

i've heard that 127 degrees is caused by an error in the software, try restarting and it should go away. and you are right there would be nothing in your system at that temp.

i would definately consider reinstalling the heatsink cos i've heard nothing but good things about this heatsink and fan.

Hey guys. I got that same HSF (Helmie helped me to decide to get it) and it raised my temps immensely. I woke up to my computer alarm going off, saying I was idling at 70 degrees celcius. That was just sitting over night. Right after boot up it idles at about 48-49 celcius. Before I was at like 45-47 celcius....So I am having problems like you kind of helmie.

BTW, this was after installing, uninstalling, and installing again.

Yep, those temps are what i used to have. My Typhoon is REALLY wobbly, i havent tightend the screws that hold it down enough. Its kinda hard to tighted by hand, and i know no tool that small enough for it.

you'll have to get hold of something to tighten it up, these temps are not gonna do your system any good in the long term

What I used is a socket (the kind you use with a socket wrench...) and the size was like 7/32 or something like that. That worked great for me, I could get it really tight. Just place on the nut, and use your fingers to tighten it.

make sure your heratsink is cleared of all dust, my heatsink was completly clogged with it, and after i cleaned it out my CPU temps droped 30C at idel, it was dieling high 60C and went to low 30c.

Yeah, ill try that socket tip. Only problem is I have to take the Mobo out again  Its really hard to get into the ATX cable & 1 Mobo screw, ill be nearly 2 hours gettin them off :o

Also, my typhoon is only 2 weeks old, so it shouldnt be clogged with dust etc........ Yet

Hey. Yeah, it really is a pain getting the mobo screw on back there for me. Getting it off is fine. But with the power cord for the CPU, I just leave it on there, instead if taking it out. And the dust isnt a problem, brand new for both of us. I just got some acetone today, and I am going to try and clean my CPU, and sand down the heatsink, because it has a bunch of ridges and stuff in it. Hopefully these will help my temps.

I have had nothing but problems with thermaltake. I bought there big water cooling kit and i had to return it three times talk about a pain taking apart and reassembling the whole computer 3 times because the inlent to the pump kept breaking off, I will never buy thermaltake agian

Yeah, I agree. I have taken apart and put together 3 times, no difference each time. I am going to see if I can return it still. I dont get why there were 5 for 5 stars, with 615 voters???? I have tried everything, it just brought my temps up.

My typhoon was exellent when i got it, and still is now, just cant be bother tightening the screws :D

What thermal paste did you put on with the typhoon?
