should i buy an LCD monitor for gaming?

I do alot of gaming (even more when i get my new processor and video card), but i was wondering if i should get an LCD. I have a 17" CRT now that works good, nice picture quality, no lag, but its a about 4-5 years old and i would like a smaller monitor like an LCD.

I was thinking of a 17" LCD, this is the one i was thinking of http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824009054

Tell me what you think and if this would be good for gaming (Halo and Counter Strike Mostly, and DVD Movies)

i would get one with a digtial not anagal output if you have a video card that supports digital the picture is alot better but that is a good price but get digital
 
remember that CRT monitors are measured including the case diagnoaly(while LCD are measured only the screen diagnoaly) so if your 17" CRT is really like a 15" LCD. so the 17" will still be aprox 2" larger than your old CRT
 
but the dell's are probably 16ms or 20ms response times. Im looking for an 8ms or lower, and those costs way about $300. I sticking with the 17" for $212
 
I play Cs source with the "16ms or 20ms" response time... You wont see any difference to that of the lcd's.. I havent noticed it..
 
what about movies then? and reviews for the 12 and 16ms monitors say that theres ghosting and its not good for gaming.
 
Viewsonic has a model at 4ms... excellent for gaming. I can't remeber the model number - but newegg.com is where I got it.
