Should I buy or should I build?

I would build, you could probably save a couple hundred dollars putting together that exact same setup yourself instead of buying from dell.

EDIT: Whoops, I didn't see that second page.

I went ahead and bought from Dell, as well. I've never had a Dell in the past, so this will be my first experience with them. I've always owned HP's in the past, and granted they have always been great machines, to my standards.

But, IMO Dell has just about everything I wanted. And I'm not the type of person to go with the best; I've always stayed at a medium level.

To me, buying a computer is no different than purchasing a car, considering I work for an auto manufacturer. For instance, if someone lives for owning a H2 or Land Rover, then there's no way possible they would "stoop down" to the Mazda level. Respect is given over a period of time, and hopefully Dell will truly shine for me, in the end.

When we get to comparing the Dell XPS models... they get super expensive... that's where I think building and saving would definitely be in anyones favor providing they are capable (and/or willing) to build.

I respect those of you who build... I swapped out a MB on an old computer once and while I got it to work, it was not without calling the MB manufacturer and pulling a few hairs out. Then the system was never that stable... then again that was on Win98. It's almost intimidating to me, although it's probably easier than it use to be.

I may build a computer just for the heck of it... just to have fun with it. A show computer, if you please... fancy lights, meters, etc. I think they look cool and it would be a good challenge for me. It seems as though I could get plenty of good quality professional help here.
