beware :eek: downloading stuff from P2P software is illegal if the stuff you download has copyrights, but what stuff there isn't illegal :). I would only download the software so that you get an idea of how it works or how it fits what you need or if its good compared to another. But i would recomend Limewire, it doesn't have adware or spyware. If you pay for what you get the police(dont know which type(FBI,Internet police,local???) wont come looking for you.

Doesn anyone know how someone can track you down, for downloading from p2p users?
 
Technically speaking this whole thread is illegal and will prolly be shut down by prae in not to long.
 
OK were are not talking technical here. Its legal to give advice and also have the P2P software installed. As long as no downloaded files are found on your PC. My suggestion, burn the bitch ass files onto CD and have them ready in a Box. When the police comes, burn the box lol. jk, just keep them in a safe place and protect your files on the CD in a way only you can access them

Well this is definitely a gray area.

PC Technology INC., downloading and using p2p software in general is not illegal. But like Styleprojekt and pc club guy said, the software and music you download might be illegal. As someone pointed out in another thread, there are independent bands that just want to get their music known and allow their songs to be copied and shared. Also freeware and shareware programs can be legally shared.

But PC Technology INC., if the End User License Agreement (EULA) says you cannot copy their software and you get a copy of that software off of Kazaa... then it is illegal no matter how you use that copy.

Your IP address is all over the place when you download files from any P2P software... and they (some branch of some government somewhere on earth that deals with copyright infringement... ) could always send spyware along with files and receive as much info on your computer as they want..

Well yeah i was joking, but i was just retelling what you see in multiple movies. Illegal CD's/disks get destroyed while police walks in and the guy destroys all proof. Now i aplogize if i broke some rules you have here in this forum, but since its such a common and known action, even in movies which millions of people watch, i tought i could just add it joking wise as a little comment. Please excuse me Guru SFR :P

The problem is ppl who decide to make available copied files of the sort should be illegal and they should get in to trouble, not the kids who don't know about these rules, and yes some ppl don't know (ppl who cant read, ppl who don't understand english, ppl who are not very pc world informed..the list goes on) So i say get the ppl who make the files available and end the problem from the source and not kill every leaf user out ther.

Both parties need to be held accountable for their illegal activity. Whether you are the one copying the software/music illegally from a cd onto your computer OR downloading that copy with p2p software.. Both of you are involved in an illegal activity

MY OPINION is that parents are the ones who are ultimately responsible for knowing what their children are doing will on the internet. It the parents do not know the rules, the English language, or are very limited in their computer knowledge, they have no business letting their children on-line until they learn the rules, language and computer knowledge.

If you are under 18, or are over 18 but still live with your parents, and do something illegal while on a computer, your parents are the ones who will most likely pay whatever fines come along from your illegal activities.
