I am not that edcuated on computer's but I'm not that dumb either lol It's not old but its not new I got it in 2002. I have had a few problems and a new C hard drive was installed about 2-3 years ago as the old one crashed and died. I like the fact that there is 2 hard drives C and D but the C is very small. This cimputer is HORRIBLE for games as the video card is not comptable with Sims 2 or Roller Coaster Tycoon ect.. So I don't know if I should get a new computer or update this one? I would only need the tower as I have a brand new monitor I got for xmas and probably a new keyboard but that is the least of my worries. Any advice please would be great I am getting very fustrated with this computer mainly with playing games.

New one since the old one is almost prehistoric :P , do you have a budget? if so please tell us so we can recommend you a build based on your budget

lol ya thats what I was thinking. As I just graduated College and got into grad school my dad wants to get me a lap top and I think he has or is but I still want another tower as I perfer them. Well the one I have now was way over 1,000 and it was not worth it. We got it at Best Buy, my mom has a best buy credit card which is up to it's limit but after we sell our house in the up coming month(s) I can then get another computer she said. So budget hmm not really but nothing over 2,000 I'm sure. I've looked alot and I want somethign good on gaming, graphics, internet, and media that's what I basicly use my computer for now. And writing papers :)

Yeah how is a P4 "prehistoric" man, I think you should keep it and use it for a few more years. That is a decently specced computer man, I would use that anyday.

yea..like if ur just usin it 4 internet, u dont need a freakin C2D, 4GB RAM, 1TB 15,000 RPM HD, 8800GTX GFX..be real

well you could at least buy more memory for it...just buy another 512Mb of ram.

But it realy depends on what you do with your system,If its just general use like internet/Email etc then it will be fine but if you like to game you could do with a Gfx card aswell.

If you have the cash then i probably would upgrade to a C2D but thats just what i would do because i like to game.

May be just get some cheap second hand RAM for the moment.
Wait for a few months for DDR3 RAM and more DX10 GPU

It all depends on what you're going to use it for, I would just get another 512MB of RAM, take it upto 1GB, then maybe get a semi-decent GPU.

Well he could upgrade, but isn't worth it, mostly because the "upgrades" wouldn't make any difference, btw if what he's saying his computer is 5 years old which is pretty old >_>

ok mixed reviews of what to do hmmm it is old and its hard to keep up with tech. basing the price of a good video card and upgrading the ram and having someone do it for me because I don't know how it will probably cost the same if not more to get a new computer so I think I might just get a knew one. hmmm now the next step is which one haha
