Im puting together a new build and was going to use a 120gb IDE HDD from my old unit. Would it be wise and much improvement to purchase a new SATA 3.0 HDD? thx.

There's no point on getting a SATA 3.0 hard drive unless it's a high end SSD drive. Regular drives cannot fully use the bandwith of SATA 2.0 yet.

Myself i would get the sata. I wouldn't hesitate to use the ide as a secondary hard drive. 'C' the primary and the IDE 'D' drive for backups. that will work.

I ask b/c I would like to use the current 120 gb HDD IDE has have and not have to buy a new HDD. But if it is worth getting the new HDD b/c of SATA 3.0 improvement, then I will.
