Should I go back to XP?

I'm creating the same thread as I figured the title was misleading.

Original Thread:

Before I make the jump, based on my specs, that I game, and the release date of Starcraft 2 with predicted DX10 graphics, should I reload XP onto me lappy?

They don't even have a confirmed date, which is safe to say that it won't be out until the speculated late 2008.

As for gaming performance under Vista, it's more or less decent. Most games will notice a drop in fps but, for the most part, it's only been at the most 10 fps with a drastic drop in an odd game here or there; probably because of a driver compatibility issue.

Another thing to consider is that Vista's Service Pack is expect to be released early 2008.

whatever suits you, i didn't vote, if your PC is vista capable keep it.

I could go either way:

With Vista, I'm DX10 set and I don't ever have to worry about upgrading along with the Vista exclusive perks.

With XP, I'll enjoy a slight performance increase as well as stability.

i have to say vista is faster. i compare the two. xp is so slow booting compared to vista! but yeah i like the idea of dule boot.

My Windows XP boots fine and in a decent speed. If you are having problems with slow starts on Windows XP you likely have too many programs trying to start when Windows XP is booting up.

Use msconfig.exe in the run option in your start window and unselect all the programs trying to start when your Windows Operating System starts.

Vista boots quiet a bit faster than XP... msconfig takes care of third-party apps that start on boot-up.... Anyway you do it, Vista will still boot faster... There are ways to help but, there is still a lot of Windows crap to boot up in that amount of time in XP, I would like to think that it is optimized in Vista.

I wonder if I will ever get Windows Vista. I am going to try out Linux Operating System and see if I like it. If Linux fulfills all my wants in an operating system, I may stay away from Microsoft products in the future.

That would make sense as the average customer likes a speedy boot-up, thus the attraction to upgrading Vista.
