Should I hold off on getting a top of the line card?

Hey,

I'm planning to build a new high end gaming PC. The main thing that has me concerned is that the 8800gtx has been out for a really long time. I still havent heard anything solid about whether there will be a new card to replace it any time soon.

Does it make sense to hold out waiting, or do you think the 8800gtx is so good that theres no need for a better card?

Thanks!

If I were you, I'd wait. Either the 8900's or the 9 series will be released, sometime after christmas and should be a good magarin better than the current top of the line. You could of course wait for the news of their subsequent launch, buy a 8800GTX from EVGA within 90 of said date, then abuse (er, i mean use) EVGA's step up plan and trade it in for full credit toward the new card. It relies on more than a bit of luck, but hey.

To reiterate, I , with my boundless patience, would wait.
