Should I remove my battery?

I recently bought a new laptop, but its basically a desktop replacement, and
therefore seldom to never leaves the desk and remains plugged in at all times.

My question is this, since Im never really using the battery, should I just unplug it? The battery monitor always says anywhere from 98-100% and that it is not charging, Im thinking it naturally discharges to the point where the charger is topping it off every few days or so.

Is there any danger of a short circuit or shock from the exposed battery connector on the back? I wouldnt think there would be, but i dont want to find out the hard way.

There shouldnt be, but its probaly bnetter if u keep it in, assuming if there is a power outtage and ur working on something the battery canbe used as a small backup

yes. theres no real point in taking the battery out. just makes you vunerable to losing power everytime you trip over the power cord.... :D not saying your clumbsy or anything hahha

well when playing games it produce heat and laptop battery dont really like heat and i pretty sure that heat reduce the lifespan of a battery.

Yeah...besides the possibility of heat, you really shouldn't have any issues keeping the batter installed. I would recommend actually using it now and then, but I know I almost never unplugged my Averatec and it's battery still held a good 90-120 minute charge.

my laptop used to give me 7+ hours. sz vaio 320bp. standard battery. under volted. registry tweaks. the works. but i made one mistake that that's leaving the battery in when not using. after a year i now get a pitiful 2.5 hr.

if you want to increase the lifespan of the battery then yes remove it when you don't need it when plugged. even when the laptop is off the battery gets drained a bit. as with other rechargeable products the more charging cycles the more wear and less charge it will hold

if you google you'll find tips like storing the battery in the fridge to decrease drain

however, there are valid arguments against this as it is a preventative measure to losing data upon power loss

so if you're cheap like me then remove it. if you plan on replacing your battery or buying a new and better laptop every 3 years or so then keep it in

some guy at stanford is researching on longer life batteries. something around +14 hr. if i get a hold of that battery then i'd just leave it in
