Should I return my Brand New PC?

This is my dilemma: My goal for buying a computer, was mostly for gaming purposes. The salesman told me this system would be adequate for games, however I may need to upgrade my Video Card within a year (as games progressed). Here are the Specs for the computer I purchased:
“The HP 1532N is loaded with an Intel Pentium D processor 820 with Viiv Technology, 2GB memory, 250GB Serial ATA hard drive, 16X Dual layer DVD+/-RW drive with LightScribe, and a 7300 graphics card with TV out.”

To my surprise I could not run the following computer game in “High” resolution mode without it freezinbg up for 5 to 10 second bursts. Here are the min requirements for the game:

“CD ROM: 16X, CPU Speed: 933MHz, CPU Type: Intel Pentium 4, Disk Space: 2.0GB, Graphics: 64MB AGP Video Card And NVIDIA GeForce 3 Or ATI Radeon 8500 Cards, Memory (RAM): 256MB, Operating System Compatibility: Win98/ME/2000/XP, Not Mac Compatible”
Is this a graphics Card issue, or is my processor not quick enough – if the later I still have 10 days to return the computer. Thank you for you thoughts!!

It is your graphics card that is slowing you down. I would return it and build your own computer but i would wait tell the end of July cause Core 2 Duo is coming out and prices on processors will drop then you can get a good graphics card to play the games on high.

if it is mostly for gaming purposes then i would definitely get a better processor, AMD 3800+ or intel core duo 2.6, and a better video card nvidia 7800 or ati 1900. or u could wait a month, as ckfordy mentioned, for the processors to all go down in price.

Nah, his processor is fine. But I do agree, your video card is really slowing your gaming down. If you want the best performance for the cost, i would build your own computer.

ur right, the main problem is definitely the video card.

The processor should be more than good enough to run those games - invest in a new video card, and you'll be set. In a year, or so, you might want to get a new Mobo and a new CPU.
