Should I update my Ethernet Controller driver?

Hi,

I need help on ethernet controller card. I have a Marvell Yukon ethernet controller card and the driver is very old (2006) 8.51.5.3. I wonder will it impact the speed of my internet access and also should I update the driver to the latest one? Also if I need to update the driver can anyone provide the step-by-step guide to update the driver? Or is there a site that I can refer to on how to update ethernet driver?

No, it won't make your internet speeds faster. However, I've had nothing but trouble with marvel yukon NICs. If you're not having trouble with it, then don't do anything with it. If you're having issues, then yes update it. The update can be found on your motherboard's manufacturer website.
 
updates for nic's usually only adress bugs and don't increase performance.
So like Pck21 said: if you're having trouble with it update it if not just leave it alone.
