I personally always keep my BIOS updated...follow instructions in your motherboard manual to the word.

With Asus motherboards you must set all BIOS options back to original settings before you update.

Some BIOS updates have been know to cause issues and system instability. The best thing to do, is go to the Asus forum for your motherboard and see what problems or performance changes they have gotten from the newer BIOS. There are usually dozens of threads on new BIOS updates for each motherboard and they will explain all the issues good and bad.

****EDIT****

Wait a couple weeks and monitor the Asus forum...let other people mess it up and work out the bugs if there are any:D

Rule of thumb...if your system is working perfectly DON'T SCREW WITH IT!!!!

I only update the BIOS for my board when its worth while aka they fixed a bug or updated something important that effects my performance.

I'm seperating this out because except for certain cases it's they way I think everyone should be doing things.

Same with me, I only update if there's a bug fix that affects me or I need to add CPU support. I don't care much for overclocking anymore so imporving OC functions doesn't really affect me.
