Should I upgrade from 6870'oc crossfire

Hey guys. I have been running gigabyte 6870 pc edition on crossfire for a whole now and I have had no performance complaints up till now. I am beginning to tire of some of the issues recent games have with crossfire such as BF3 and I was considering upgrading to a new single card. I have read alot of benchmarks and opinions on the 7970 and 680 and while they are both powerful cards I'm not convince they would neccisarily overpower the setup I have at the moment.

I was told that the VRAM of the 6870's is low so I will start having performance issues soon as games start requiring more however I don't fully understand that and don't know if it's true. Basically I'm in a position to put $500 into a new GPU right now but only of it is going to improve on my current performance if not I will have to wait another 12 months to upgrade.

And advice or input would be apreciated. Cheers.

you need vram for higher resolutions, if you got under a p1080 it doesn't matter that hard. But with that crossfire setup (I got it myself) you can get some microstutter in some games. You would be better off with a nice single card with much vram then a CF setup with mid-range cards. (CF with highend cards don't got microstutter.)

Wait, and suprized a coolermaster 620w can handle that setup, warning, it might not, one or both might be slightly under-powered.

I'd say that's the problem. Has 3 12v rails at 19A. I'd upgrade the power supply to a 700W+ from corsair or similar.
