should I upgrade from my A64 3000+?

I just upgraded my PS and video card today so now I'm sporting:

A64 3000+
Gigabyte nf4 board
2GB(2x1GB PC3200 @ 2-3-2-5) in dual channel
4xHitachi sata II drives in raid 0
evga 7900GT KO superclocked


IMO, my processor is a little outdated, I mean that and the motherboard are like a year and a half or more old...

the thing is.. I wanna upgrade it, but at the same time I look at it like this.. My computer isn't slow and in desperate need of an upgrade and waiting to get a new cpu/mb/ram(ddr2 unless there is something better then) when the conroe comes out, might be waiting it out for.. what do ya think??

what about upgrading to a X2 3800+ when Conroe arrives, the X2 will only be ~$169

If you get the X2 3800+ AM2, then it supports DDR2.

And the cheapest Core 2 Duo will be around $200.
