Should I upgrade?

OK...I had created a thread about building a new computer, and found out that cyberpower is the route i would like to go. However, i was talking to my computer buddy and was telling me to just upgrade my current computer's video card and call it a day. I figured i would ask opinions here, because he also said he just bought an alienware computer used, and thinks its better than any computer that has been built right now...:o

Hey Daisy...Thanks for the quick response! I just posted in the other thread as well. What would you do if it was you? Just buy new? I mean, the video card upgrade is fairly cheap, and would ulitmately do the trick. However, i like the idea of a new machine, but giving away $1000 when it is not NECESSARY is whats bothering me.

EDIT: Basically, is the computer im using now any good? Or is slowly getting out of date and will die on me...
 
Yea, I read that thread. Its my other one...ha. but a friend posed a new option and said to just upgrade the video card for like $50-$100 and call it a day. He didn't know what my specs were, so he said to post them up and see what you guys said about my PC now...
 
Well your computer now is not junk by any means, but it's also not top-of-the-line by any means. If you're financially prepared to build/purchase a new computer I probably would at this point.

Your current computer has gotta be at least 5 years old right? Yeah, time to upgrade!

Bringing this thread back up real quick. I am giving this computer to my brother and he wants to upgrade the video card so he can play games. Right now, when i go to run the starcraft 2 beta, it says...

Starcraft II requires a videocard with vertex shader 2.0 support. This PC does not meet minimum system requrements. For more information on required hardware, consult our support website at HTTP://starcraft2.com/support.

Is there a video card that could be bought to upgrade this computer that would allow Starcraft 2 to run? Or would i need to upgrade more than the video card?
 
Thank you. I wet ahead and bought the nvidia geforce GTS 250. I finally got it installed and working, I go to start up the starcraft beta and it says that something else is using the 3d something and to turn it off, or the machine is locked. Any ideas what that means or how to fix it? I disabled my prior video card already...???
