It depends on the specs, most importantly the hard drive. A new PC with just the OS installed will be much quicker than one which is loaded with all software on

what about yours dose that load instantly? It looks like quite good spec..

Mine is new and it goes from being super fast to not so fast, I was woundering if it should be super fast all the time?

It honestly depends on the software the most.

I mean, if your computer is 5 years old, and has never been reformatted and has never been cleaned (software wise) it could take minutes to boot up. Format and reinstall windows on said hard drive, and the system could boot in ~30 seconds or so.

Mine takes about 20-25 seconds.

Better hardware helps, especially solid state drives (hard drive with no mechanical/moving parts. basically a flash drive with a SATA interface)

This should be part of your other thread...

Even a new computer will not do everything "instantly". Hard drives are still a a bottleneck. Being an OEM machine, your computer probably does not have a super fast hard drive, but it's likely faster than what most people with older machines have. Hard drive speed is what determines how fast programs open, how fast the OS boots up, and other similar tasks.

As far as processing power, you're on the low end of things compared to other modern chips. That one was made more to save power than anything, but it's still a nearly 3GHz dual core Athlon II, so it should handle daily tasks and even light gaming with ease.

Opening web browsers/new windows, opening light piece of software/games (notepad, command prompt, Minecraft, MSI Afterburner etc) is instantaneous.

Opening office software, media players, programming tools etc take a few seconds at most to load, same goes for games.

Only thing that takes any considerable amount of time is booting up, which takes ~50 seconds.

However, that can vary greatly depending how much stuff I have open using my resources. If you have a lot of things still open, even in the background, it will be eating up memory and processor time, making your system run more sluggishly.

If you find it going slow, run a defrag (download defragller and run it a few times in a row, don't use the windows one, it is crap) and also cleanup your startup processes by downloading, installing and running soluto from here:

http://www.soluto.com/Download/

Like Drenlin mentions,The standard Hard drive is still a huge bottleneck,Eventually as SSDs get even faster, and they do away with the traditional BIOS and introduce UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) to newer motherboards i can only see things getting much faster.

You must be booting from an SSD I ran Soluto and it says my boot time is 2:37 min which I believe. Now if I remove all the potentially removable software my time is 1:35min.

I use a WD Caviar green which has a variable speed between 5400RPM and 7200RPM.

I did however follow Aasti Thread How to speed up Windows

I am around 30 seconds for boot up and I don't have a SSD. Looking at linkin's signature I don't think he does either.
2:37 is pretty slow. At that point I don't think your hard drive is the only bottleneck.

I do have an SSD actually :)

Everything installed on it loads almost instantly. That means firefox/office/etc - everything else like games gets lumped onto my 1TB drive. Which is still fast for a mechanical :D

Nice thread bump :P

No, I'm using a hard drive, as per my sig - Samsung F3 500GB

Caviar Green drives are meant more for storage, and so are slower than a Caviar Blue, Caviar Black, Samsung F3 or F4 (320GB F4, the 2TB drives are 5400RPM and designed for storage) etc drives which are meant for main drives rather than for dedicated storage drives

What else would make my boot time this long? I don't have much opening at startup. I defrag regularly.

Use msconfig to stop any unecessary processes that take place on startup. This will speed up the boot time.

EDIT - sorry just noticed your previous post.
