Hi,

I have a problem when shutting down my PC.
When I select 'shut down' the OS shuts down and the monitor goes blank (as it should) however, there is still power in the tower (the fan still run and lights on th tower are remained on).

Does any1 know what could be the problem? and how to fix it? This problem does not ALWAYS happen but occurs often. (I dont do anything differently when it does/dosnt happen)

Thanks in advance ;)

It sounds as if a program is causing your shut down to hang. It could be pretty much anything like an auto updater, Anti Virus, messenger programs, temp files, etc. The first thing to try is to clean up your PC. Remove programs you don't use, update current programs (windows updates too), run AV and spyware scans, defrag. If it contiunes use MSCONFIG to disable all your start up programs to see if the problem continues. If it doesn't turn on your start up items one by one till it returns. I know your problem is intermittent so this last part may be a little tuff and it may require you to just sit there and turn your PC on and off a lt.
