Shutdown Problems

Ok, DA**ed IBM is acting up. It runs ok, till i start a high draw program, like vid editing or Higher end games, it just turns off. Not a warning, or the dead batt "going into hibernate to save work", just cuts all power. The AC adapter works (lights up the light for it) and shows under OS as plugged in (batt only last 10 min anyway. its IBM OEM.)

Quite frankly im getting fed up with the problems of the system. Lenovo (IBM) will not help w/o a deposit.
Ill post pics later if you promice not to laugh at the "repeated entry to internals upgrade."

So the battery can shut it down while it is on plug power?? Could I just remove the battery to solve the problem??
A new battery is more than I want to put into it at this point, especially with a Toshiba on the way, and my HP due for return today. (it is on the truck for delivery according to fedex tracking)

I'd check a couple things in your case... First off, how's the heat on the system? It almost sounds like it's overheating. Next, do you have another power supply to test on the system? Perhaps the PSU isn't putting out quite enough power anymore?

the heat runs good, not hot at all, just warm to the touch.
The power supply has been tested on another computer and it worked there, and i tested the other computers PS on this one, same problem.

Some laptops are quite good at hiding heat. I'd still confirm the heatsink is nice and clean. If nothing else, take some compressed air and spray it around the vents

the heatsink is clean. I know for sure (cleaned and replaced with new thermal paste.)

So far it has been running fine today, with the battery removed.
