I know nothing of computer hardware. I can see a card in mine with a fan approximately 1 1/2 inches diameter, Is it a video/graphics card? There is a slight hum from the fan, normal operation I think, If the fan is disabled for say 2 hours, would it do any damage? Thanks guys in anticipation.

What model do you have, exactly?

That does sound like the video card, in which case, you should definitely not disable the fan. It could be something else though...shuttle has some odd models. Can you post a pic?

Drenlin - thanks for the reply, the model number is PC3512402. The label on the LG DVD drive gives a date of January 2006, I don't know if that is any help. I've been on the Shuttle website and I can't see a pic of mine but others are similar. I don't know how to upload pix on here but if you still want to help I could email a couple, my MSN addy is [email protected]

I think the model number you posted is the one from the power supply, not the computer itself.

Ah, alright. Definitely don't turn the fan off then. You never, ever want to turn off the fan on a CPU or GPU, unless the heatsink was designed to be passive in the first place. (doubtful if there's already a fan attached)
