Signing in problems

I recently bought a dell inspiron9100 laptop from a friend and I am unable to sign into my hotmail on msn, unable to set up an account on yahoo, unable to set up an account on ebay or sign into my current account (i haven't tried anything else).
I can do all of these with my p.c so i assume it is the laptops configuration of some sort.
Could it be Dells WLAN or what?????
Please help cos this is REALLY annoying.
 
did you reformat the machine when you got it??
I would suggest you do so, as then you know you have a clean windows with no errors...who knows what he/she had on there before you got it....couda came complete with free viruses and spyware (most likely)
 
It's not the LAN, it's usually the computer itself. Have you tried updating your Windows set up? It would update all your IE stuff too. Also, I had one customer who had a problem like that too, but it was a pop up blocker (that her kid installed) and she didnt know how to use it. The links just weren't coming up because the blocker would shoot it down.
