Silent Computer Help

I need to build an almost silent computer, but on a very tight budget.

The spec doesn't have to be anything special, as cheap as possible really. Unfortunately I'm totally out of the loop these days when it comes to parts, (what processor goes with what socket etc... tbh I'm passed caring though!) so if someone could suggest a cheap build for me I'd appreciate.

All I need is a motherboard/processor combo, a couple of pci slots, a video card (if anyone can suggest a m/b with built in video that would be even better) and a psu (capable of running the above plus 1 or 2 h/d's and an optical drive. The only requirement for all these parts is that they're either fanless, or have very quiet fans.

Alternatively if anyone could suggest a model of pre-built computer from a few years back that I could canabalise, that would do also.

I don't really want to spend much more than £100, £150 tops, anymore and the whole project becomes slightly too serious.

Cheers ladies and gents.

If you're not worried about specs, then just buy a 2nd hand laptop, they tnd to be quieter than desktops anyway .

or....

Just use any reasonably quiet system and rig it inside a cupboard/wardrobe with ventilation and use extended ps/2 and monitor cables to the keyboard/mouse and monitor.

hahaah you could put it inside a fishtank and fill in with vege oil (or canola I cant remember what type of oil) that would be quite as.

or the best way to make a quiet pc is to forget to plug it in happended to me a few years pack couldnt work out why my comp wasnt booting then i discovered it
