Anyone here play Sim City 4?
Whats your biggest city?
Mine has a population of 290,000 but its starting to get bad its very poluted and has majour traffic problems.
Anyone have any tips on reducing pollution.
I am currently upgrading the bussiest roads to avenues and making a train route.

I think if you switch to nuclear power rather then coal or oil would help. There is the sure fire windmills :). build a whole field of them.
 
I did have lots of windmills when the city was small but when it got to like 50k people it started to cost lots. I might try nucleur ive only ever had one city with that before but that was before I reinstall windows so I lost it.

Do the tutorials, always try and keep the industrial and residential areas apart but keep them close enough so that people will still go to work. If you are zoning residential and you want to have some high density residential and some low density put the low density closer to the industrial because then the polution will be over the places that not many people live in.
Dont be lazy when funding. If you made a school that had 50 pupils in it,dont give it funding for 500 and think that thats a good idea because you wont have to go back and change it later, it will just put you in debt, only fund for what you need. Also everyone tells you this but build a fire station when there is a fire and after the fire demolish it, they are expensive to run.

If you liked the sim city series then yes, it is a huge advance on sim city 2000, buy the deluxe edition it comes with the expansion pack, and it was cheaper.
 
Wow, I haven't played 4 in forever, I was much better at 3000... Maybe I'll pull that out again in a little while.
 
Sort of like me. I hadn't played any sim city in years but I was browsing amazon.co.uk and saw it and remember how fun it was. It was only like £10 so i bought it. Great fun.
 
Here is a trick for the pollution problem... If you get creative you can even have fun with it :).

click to build a new city next to your city (in the region). Put your power plants there and join them to your current city :). Pollution problem gone. You can even have fun and build a run down slummy city next to it where the power stations are :). You can pretend that your worse enemies live there! LOL.. I have not done this ;).... Honest.
 
Thats a good idea. I just need to raise my taxes and a wait a year or two so I have money. I put all my taxes to 2% to get more people im gonna put them up to 8% First Im gonna build Slum city.
 
First thing I do is run my trainer ;)... Then get a few billion before I start my city. I then lower the taxes to about 4%. I know cheating is bad :P. But the real fun of simcity 4 is building the city's... right?
 
Cheating can be fun.
I once cheated by getting lots of money, made 0% taxes and then made it huge, it had loads of pollution and everything then made a robot like thing storm through the city, made loads of hurricains and fires and then it was basically destroyed. This one with the pollution problems has had no cheats.
 
Anyone know whats in the expansion pack?
Extra buildings i expect? or better maps?

Simcity is a GREAT game. I liked 3000 alot more than 4 though, for some odd reason. I gave my copy to my cousin, thinking of asking for it back after reading this thread. I remember when Simcity 2000 was all I'd play. I do think its cool how you can import your Sims from The Sims and watch them interact in your city, kind of a neat feature.
 
Only code that I know of is "weaknesspays" which gives you $1000. It takes so many times of typing in the code to make a difference that is just is not worth it. I have gotten a trainer however that gives you one billion dollars with makes all the difference in the world :). There are allot more codes but that is the only one I know for $$.
 
Cool
The rush hour expansion pack also lets you drive cars on the actual roads and look at your sims routes to work and lets you see how much tarffic there is. It also adds a rush hour which means that when it gets to between 5-7pm and 7-9am or something like that then the traffic gets higher and more congested.
 
If anyone knows of any oney cheats which gives you more than $1000?

It takes forever to keep entering "weaknesspays":D
 
No there is only one usless you do what blue is doing. Copy "weaknesspays" and hold down ctrl and press xvxvxvxvxvxvxvxv and so on while holding down ctrl. Or when you are in the cheat box press up and it will enter your last used cheat.
