Simple RAM question

The question I had was. Is there a performance difference by filling up all the DIMM slots, PC eye answered it. I am buying faster ram the ddr2 800 instead of the 533. I was wondering if I should buy 2 pairs cheaper ram or 1 pair hi-perf. ram. The 2 gig sticks are crazy expensive. Thnx.

1 pair of high performance is better for gaming (2 sticks is better than 4 sticks) but you could always get 2gb of value RAM if cost is an issue. It wont be as fast timing wise and probably wont overclock as well as the more expensive stuff (it could, you never know but it usually doesn't).

Performance memory is the best advice for the OC route for sure there. But 2gb of Kingston Value Ram has worked out quite for the general stock application here in games as well as video capturing and other demanding apps. Don't buy a garbage brand with a generic name unless you know that that brand makes one of the good names. Often they are headaches. The brand names mentioned earlier do quite well on most systems.
