simple surge protector ?

what should i look for when it comes to surge protectors? i heard you can get surges through the internet cables is this true? i have a laptop and i am connected to a lan (i think its at college in the dorm) and my hall has had 2 huge surges that ruined a lot of electronics which the school is not responsible for.

You want a surge suppressor that has a large amperage protection, a computer replacement warranty would be nice, and an integrated circuit breaker.

Lightning can strike phone lines and cause damage to computers that way, so getting a surge protector that also handles the phone lines would be good.

I don't recall seeing any that will do LAN cables, but I'm sure that isn't out of the question.

Ussaluy one with a circuit breaker is fine, and also cheap.

hey you can get one at radio shack for 50$ to 70$ haha and im shure you can get lan connections
