Looks like a very nice setup. BTW, what gfx card do you have now?
wouldnt u like to know, it seems to be my friends old 7800GT seems like a pretty sweet deal right. he bought it a few weeks ago and is getting a GTX now. so im buyin it from him for about 200.

The only thing that stands out for me as a red flag is the power supply. I've never heard of it. I suggest spending extra bucks for an Enermax, Antec, etc.

Ive heard of XClio, and its one of Praetors PSU101 Reccomendations

Good to avoid the low end ASUS SLI boards although for that price you can do better Of course, SLI is just a money-hole to start with :)

Do a bit o' research (hint: look up the UL code for the XClio and then look up the number for Antecs) ... you'll find they are the same :) So it would be a very bad idea to spend more money to get an equivalent PSU

so what motherboard do you think i should go with thats not low end asus SLI, i dont really need SLI if i just buy a good vid card. and id like to stay with asus as i have alot of experience with them and they have always een great for me. i do want to keep all the other parts too.
AMD X2 3800+
OCZ enhanced latency RAM DDR pc 3200 (2x512mb)
Xclio 450 watt PSU
Sunbeam transformer case.
I also intend to install my PCI-E x16 7800 GT
as for my intentions and my budget (in case you arent aware)
i want to be able to play all the new games on max quality, and my budget is 800 $
i do plan on overclocking the processor to about 2.4 GHz if possible, ive seen members of this forum getting them to 2.4 without raising the Vcore so i want to have the same success. do you think 1GB of ram is enough to run all the games? or should i get 2 sticks of 1GB. also, the video card is efficient for the games as well right?
thanks in advance Empire :)

Well you get the A8N32SLI DLX which IMO is one of the best boards on the market as well as the A8R-MVP .. now if you insist on going nVidia and ASUS for K8 then that's your loss :)

You should be ok for what you have in mind.

those 2 are nice, the one is amazingly expensive but amazingly amazing as well. i dont have the budget for that though. the A8R-MVP is nice for the features and the budget. but whats the difference in the ATI and nVidia chipsets? would i still be able to use a 7800 GT?
now i see, its built for crossfire, which i dont need, do you think SLI is necessary for a new high end build, i think if i dont get a dual PCIe x 16 it would save me alot of money and i can always upgrade video cards. im now leaning towards a non sli board and a 4200 + X2. thanks for the input, anyone have any recommendations to an ASUS board that is non SLI but has great features.
reading reviews on the amazing ASUS board, the a8n32-sli it gets better and better, with the 8 phase power and full x 16 SLI. it seems to overclock really well too.
i found this ASUS board, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131569 it seems to be very reliable and its got everything i need for a cheap price, i want to buy the athlon X2 4200 with the money i save on this. so i think its a good idea. its got 4 sata 1 connectors. and i dont want SLI cuz its a money waster. for my budget and my intentions i think this is a great board. much better suited for me then the SLI premium.

You can stil use the 78GT (why on earth wouldnt you be able to?) As for the difference, see the respective websites

You dont need Crossfire... ok good idea so far ... but you're considering SLI? C'mon! ;)

With the exception of that A8R-MVP, no such board exists.

The A8RMVP is just as good for OCing and costs like half the price.

I duno why you keep on insisting ASUS (ok maybe im being too subtle, lemme spit it out... "for K8 boards, unless you're planning on the A8N32SLI or A8RMVP, ASUS boards are either not-so-great from a literal point of view or not-so-great-for-their-price") but to get that board and pair it with the system would unbalance the box
