ok this is really confusing

whats the difference between?????

i know wat a dual core motherbord is

but on another thread a guy sent a link for a motherboard that supported dual core, but there was only one cpu slot??????

also plz, can u tell me what the latest SINGLE core amd processor, or a processor that has enough power to play latest games

You are confused between dual core and dual processors. Dual core is 2 chips inside one processor, and therefore it will have only one socket on the motherboard. AMD's dual core processors go into the same socket 939 that the Athlon 64 processors do. Intel's dual core processors require different mobos.

Dual processors is something that mainly only servers use, and it is two separate processors on one motherboard, which would require 2 sockets

Any AMD processor better than or equal to the Athlon 64 3200 (single core), and any of the dual core AMD processors is good enough to play games.

Any Intel p4 above 2.5GHz and all the dual core pentium processors are good enough for gaming

I hope I did not confuse you more

so dual core is bascically dual processors

In layman's terms, yes dual core is 2 processors crammed into one chip. But in real life, no it is not quite the same.

Read the CPU 101 thoroughly, and figure out some more

If you wanted to be really specific, its two Cores on the one Processor. :D

I would say - Best performance single core CPU - FX-57 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103558

However, the newest, im not sure. AMD seem to be releasing only D/C processors now.

*sigh* It means the same thing, I was just trying to keep it simple

Why not the FX-60?

A few of the Intel EEs are good, but incredibly overpriced, and any FX will whoop them in most tests

The FX-60 Is dual core.

And yes, i think its only the very latest EE is dual core, so some of the EE's would be good.

And I know you were trying to keep it simple, i did say if you wanted to be completely specific :D
