hi everyone, my question might seem a little dumb, so let me explain
which one would you prefer:

Single 768MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
or
Dual 320MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS (SLI)

so you see the problem is to choose between the most powerful GPU or two not that good GPUs

First off, what do you plan to use the card for? Heavy gaming? General computing? In my opinion, SLIing any 8800 series card is overkill. My brother has the 640MB 8800 card and can pllay every game at max. Even 2 320MB cards seems like too much at this moment in time.

Just get the single 8800 GTX, then when the computing world slighly moves on you can just upgrate to a dual 8800 GTX set up.

yes, i intend to use my pc for very heavy gaming, for example: oblivion, company of heroes and fear, running at max

Yeah, I'd say get the single GTX, It's huge and it'll be enough for a lot of games to come, when it gets old (ha!) you can get another and SLI them.

SLi mode actually performs slower in some areas and in some benchmarks and in some games compared to a single video card. It is kind of a hit or miss technology at the moment, and not a wise investment either IMO. They are already developing multiple core video cards, so really SLI may end up being a dead technology since there will be no need for multiple cards, instead one card will have multiple processors.

I wouldnt wait on it chondo, it will be some time before somthing like that comes out. And when it does you wont buy it because it will be $2500 at least when it comes out.
