When she starts her comp monitor goes into standby, the comp does not boot up, she hears a bunch of beeps, and they turn it off and back on the fan turns on but is really fast and loud. Any suggestions?
first what type of computer is it, what are the parts, also, listen to the beeps and tell us what they are, like how many and wether their long or short.
also helpful info would be when this started...meaning did she install a program, restart and this happened...or did she new memory and this problem occurs? let us know.
john, her stuff went through hurricane katrina, but she said that she didnt see any obvious signs of damage.she is just now trying to start it. the comp is about a year old.
maybe something broke off or is not fully in. try unplugging everything then plugging it back in including any memory graphics or anything else. maybe some wateer could have gotten in it.
sweetcat_18 you need to do what spacedude89 said
The beeping that you hear is a diagnotic method used in the board. The length and number of the beeps/pauses is a code which you look up in the bios manual. It will then explain the problem you are having.
