SIW vs Crucial's Memory Detector

Ok, so im going to be upgrading my ram pretty soon

I always use SIW to check my computer specs but recently i went on crucials site and did their memory detector and it said each memory slot can hold up to 2gb per slot.

SIW says my maximun capicity is 8192mb, which is 8gbs

So my question is how do i really know what the capacity is, or do i have to take a chance and buy 2x 4gb cards

Kind of hard for us to answer that when you don't even list the motherboard you have or model of system you have if its store bought. Give us that information and we can help you.

Tell us what mobo you have but it probably is indicating you can use 2x2x2x2 for a total of 8GB

or 4x4 if you only have 2 dimm slots.

Since this is a laptop, look on the bottom of it for a sticker with the exact model number, should be something like G60-xxxx where X's are the last part that actually designates the exact model you have.
