Skyrim Performance

I just got Skyrim, and im very disappointed about the way my system runs skyrim. When everything is set to ultra and the resolution is at 1920*1080 det only runs with 1-2 fsp !? Now, i understand that many people is exxperiencing this problem, but i havent located a soloution yet.. I tried downloading the new driver for AMD (11.11a) which should improve the performance. I experienced a tiny improvenment but still way too much lagg to play.

Btw, i got a M15X with a i7 processor, 8 gb ram, and i just installed the HD6990mM.. im running battlefield 3 at ultra with 30-40 fps, so i dont think my specs is the problem.

Does anyone know anything about a new patch? from bethesda them self maybe? or any other solutions?

Here's a few suggestions:

Turn MSAA off and use FXAA in the options from the game launcher
Turn shadows down to low and keep everything else on ultra

Those helped me out a bit. Shadows on max don't even look good in the game.

Well, it helps quite a lot, but can it really be that we wont be able to max it out?
Still only gets around 20-25...

I have it maxed out at 1680x1050 but with AA at 2x and AF at 2x. My framerates can go as high as 60 but sometimes go down into the teens when in towns. Have overclocked 200mhz on my cpu and got the more memory usage mod (the one that works after their patch) and I haven't noticed any improvements. This game is just badly optimized for PC. I know there was a mod that was supposed to make it run as well as Oblivion but I believe it is useless with the latest patch now.

Is the 6990 the dual GPU? And how much difference is there between the desktop and the laptop version?

I have a 6990 for pc. I cant imagine how the laptop version can keep up. BTW 6990 skyrim performance is still garbage. Bad driver problems

I have a single 6990 for labtop, and yes, it is not as powerful as the one for desktops, but the 6990 and gtx580 are to be the worldst fastest GPU's for labtops, at the moment.

Anyone has any news about skyrim optimized drivers for AMD gpu's?

I have a 6970m, and very rarely do I get low FPS, usually just when I fast travel. Though, I don't use the latest ATI drivers, I use the latest ones from Dell.

There's also a problem with Crossfire in Skyrim at the moment. Disable that and see if it helps your framerate. You should be able to max out the game with that GPU.

Okay guys, i just installed the 11.11b for AMD and it pretty much does the job. I am now running skyrim very playable in 1920x1080 with everything ultra. There is a few things to improve, but im sure that will come in the next drivers.
