Skyrim wont launch...

When I double click the icon on my desktop it brings up the splash screen, but then when I click play, the splash screen quickly turns off and back on and the game never launches... Anyone know what is going on? I just played the other day and haven't used my computer since so I don't know what could have changed.

Try re-installing. Sometimes these things happen just backup the save games.

try verifying the game through steam, right click skyrim go to properties then local files and verify integrity, solves most problems

Does it do the same when you attempt to open from the Steam library?

What are your system specs?

I believe I had a similar issue when I first got Skyrim. Try going into your sound options and lowering the quality down. Sounds far fetched but it actually works. Even with the few updates they've had I still have to do so.
