Sledghammer is for socket 940. Its the equivelent to a clawhammer core for socket 939. The san diego core has two advanteges, its 90 nm and it supports SSE3. If your going socket 939, then your only option is the san diego core. (which is called the venus core for opterons).

socket 940, sledghammer,,,, isn't it for server computers normally?

i never seen anyone with socket 940 for their desktops./.

firstly the web site is corect the 146 oppy is for 939.
second, its cheaper from ebuyer (also uk supplier...and much more reputable)

third, you may get a better deal with an amd 64 3500 (venice) v good oc'er

it not that uncommon, especially with the recent opteron 165 fiasco

san diego is better.
isnt the 165 for 939? i thought it was... too lazy to check
no it is for s939, i was more suggesting that having oppys in desktop are not uncommon, your right what i said was misleading.

i have opteron 165 myself,.

well then let me ask you again;;
does anybody have socket 940 for their desktop?
i bet no one, or not more than 1 person in this whole forum
