Sli and Cf question

I was just wondering, if I sli or cf two 1gb cards are they going to combine the vram and work as 2gb or are they going to work on 1gb only and not combine their vram?

You are limited to the vRAM amount of 1 card. If you SLI 2 512MB cards, you still have 512MB of vRAM to use. If you SLI a 1GB card and a 2GB card, you have only 1GB of vRAM to use. Also take into account that the cards will default to the lowest clock speed of the pair.
