SLI Motherboards

I want to upgrade to a SLI system, but have a few quesions about it first. I will be using my AMD Athlon 64 3500+, and a BFG GeForce 7800. I went to SLIZone.com and checked their certified motherboards, most of the motherboards seem to have problems with RAM and a few other problems. Could this be because they changed something to create SLI, or are these just the companies usual faults? Also, this may come as a dumb question, but would I have to use two video cards, or does it work like RAM slots, and it just supports up to two video cards. I have also been reading into it and seeing some power issues, the video card comes with a converter (from 2 HDD power dongles to a PCI-e power connector) so I am assuming that all will be stable as long as my PSU is up to par, which is +3.3V@28A; +5V@30A; +12V@34A; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]. Another thing, most of the mother boards on there are using a 24 pin power connector, my PSU has a 20 pin and a 4 pin, again another dumb question... can I plug both of these into the 24 pin connector?

No, you can use an SLI board with one Video Card until you decide to use a second (note: they must be the same video card, manufacturer also ;)).

Good question..I'm not so sure myself, but I would probably say no...Isn't the power plug designed to fit it uniquely and only fits one way? I don't think it would be possible, but you never know...

If you want to keep your current PSU, you can just buy a converter...They cost like $5 from newegg. However, I would recommend you get an ATX 12 (i think that's the correct name) PSU, as the 24 pin power connecter would deliver more "power" to the video card (atleast that's what my friend told me!).

:)

you can put a 24 pin onto a 20 pin mobo, i think. but you can also buy converters for them. dont put the 4 pin in ot it, cuz tghats to go directly to a intel cpu

Yeah, it says it's an intel 4 pin connector, but I use AMD, and without that plug, my computer doesn't start up properly... I don't understand that?
