I am looking at an amd mobo and cpu. thinging of swithing
I have already two geforce card in sli if a mother board has two pci express 16 slots does this mean you can do sli even if the mobo dosent say sli compatible

thanx

So it has to say nvidia sli

it will not work with one that just says sli compatible

or crossfire (that is just for amd cards)

no either its crossfireX or Sli irrespective of what cpu or mobo ....specially true for amd cpus and mobos.....

The only two chipsets which support bothSLI and CrossfireX are X58(Core i7) and a dual cpu solution called Intel DXS5400....
There's no other such solution yet....
Look for the chipset in the mobo irrespective of amd or intel ....either it will be amd or nvidia....if its nvidia...it will support SLI...or else CrossfireX....this is how amd mobos work....so look for the nvidia chipset on an amd mobo if you want SLI....
Hope it helps

If your going AMD, to run Crossfire it has to have a AMD/ATI Crossfire chipset. To run SLI it has to have a Nvidia SLI chipset.
