sli question

you know if you buy two the same nvidia cards lets say both are 512 and you sli them together would it be 1024mb or will it be still 512 just perform better than a single card
 
well yes if you looked at it one way it wuld be a gig of video memory, but i dont think it performs like that. it just performs like to kick ass cards with 512mb of video memory.
 
i doubt that somehow... lol i mean why would they prevent you from getting the performance out of the extra ram that you bought.

When you use SLI it is the same as what it is with just one card. BUT, When you use SLI it takes half of a frame from each card and puts it together to improve proformance. So, yes, I guess you can say it doubles.
 
Curiousity..

Um i am guessing this is a hypothetical question cuz i have the 512 and i don't think i will ever use the full potential what were u planning to use the 1024 for, just curious....
 
SLI mirrors the memory, if you have 2x 256MB cards then you still only have 256MB of memory, not 512MB.
